CAUTION:Do not loosen or bend the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) cable bracket. Bracket alignment is critical and damage to the IMRC actuator may occur. Disconnect the IMRC actuator cable from the stud and bracket. |
Vehicles with returnless fuel system

NOTE:Remove the bolts in the indicated sequence. Remove the lower intake manifold and discard the gaskets. |
Vehicles without returnless fuel system

NOTE:Remove the bolts in the indicated sequence. Remove the lower intake manifold and discard the gaskets. |
Installation
Vehicles without returnless fuel system

NOTE:Install new gaskets with the locating lugs facing downwards. NOTE:Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence. Install the lower intake manifold. |
Vehicles with returnless fuel system

NOTE:Use new gaskets with the locating lugs facing downwards. NOTE:Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence. Install the lower intake manifold. |
All Vehicles
| -
Connect the IMRC actuator cable to the stud and bracket. |
| -
Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors. |
Vehicles with returnless fuel system
| -
Connect the fuel injector pressure sensor electrical connector and vacuum hose. |
Vehicles without returnless fuel system
| -
Connect the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator. |
All Vehicles

Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor electrical connector. |

Install the upper intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Upper Intake Manifold in this section. |

NOTE:When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy. Connect the battery ground cable. |
