Engine Cooling - Thermostat Housing—2.0L Cougar 1999 (08/1998-01/2001)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

  1. Disconnect the thermostat housing coolant hoses.

  1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor and the temperature gauge sender electrical connectors.

  1. Disconnect the thermostat housing coolant hose.

  1. Remove the thermostat housing.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Remove the housing.

  1. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

Installation
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Fill the cooling system.
