Evaporative Emissions - Fuel Vapor Vent Valve Cougar 1999 (08/1998-01/2001)
Removal and Installation

Removal

Vehicles with 2.0L engine
    1. Disconnect the intake air bypass hose.
    1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation hoses.
    1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.

  1. Remove the intake air resonator.

  1. Disconnect the vapor management valve electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the vapor lines and remove the vapor management valve.
Vehicles with 2.5L engine
  1. Remove the ignition coil. For additional information, refer to Section  303-07A Engine Ignition / 303-07B Engine Ignition.
All Vehicles
  1. Disconnect the vapor management valve electrical connector.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The bolts must be secured from inside the vehicle when removing the nuts.
    Detach the vapor management valve.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum line from the vapor management valve.

  1. Disconnect the vapor tubes and remove the vapor management valve.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
