Removal and Installation Removal All Vehicles | -
Remove the parking brake control cover trim. | | -
Lower the parking brake control lever and loosen the adjustment nut. | | -
Loosen the wheel nuts (both sides). | Vehicles with anti-lock brakes | -
Detach the rear wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) sensor electrical connector from the mounting bracket. - Disconnect the rear wheel ABS sensor electrical connector.
- Detach the electrical connector from the mounting bracket.

CAUTION:Blank off the brake hoses when disconnected to prevent any dirt ingress. Disconnect the flexible brake hoses. - Disconnect the brake hose unions.
- Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
- Remove the union retaining clip.

Loosen the suspension unit lower mounting bolt. | | -
Support the suspension assembly. | | -
Remove the trailing arm mounting bracket bolt (both sides). | | -
Relocate adjacent components to lower the suspension assembly. - Position the parking brake cables and conduit to the rear.
- Support the exhaust system.

Remove the suspension unit lower mounting bolts. | | -
Lower and remove the suspension assembly. | Installation All Vehicles | -
Locate the suspension assembly. | | -
NOTE:Do not fully tighten the lower mounting bolts. Install the suspension unit lower mounting bolts. | | -
NOTE:The final tightening of the rear suspension should be carried out when the vehicle weight is on the road wheels. Install the suspension trailing arm mounting bracket bolts. | | -
Tighten the suspension lower mounting bolt. | | -
Install the flexible brake hoses. | Vehicles with anti-lock brakes | -
Install the rear wheel ABS sensor electrical connector to the mounting bracket. - Install the ABS electrical connector to the mounting bracket.
- Connect the ABS electrical connector.
