Description and Operation The rear drum brakes are of convential design. They feature one leading and one trailing shoe with bonded 'Thick/Thin' asbestos free linings. The 'Thick/Thin' linings allow the brake shoes to wear at proportional rates. The rear brakes self-adjust during foot brake operations. A Load Apportioning Valve (LAV) is connected between the body and the rear suspension. The LAV adjusts rear braking effort according to vehicle load. |
