1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Raise the vehicle.

3. Disconnect the fluid cooler hose.
   • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

4. Remove the lower drive belt cover.

5. Remove the drive belt.
   1. Rotate the belt tensioner in a clockwise direction.
   2. Remove the belt and release the belt tensioner.

6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Disconnect the multiplug.

8. Disconnect the alternator wiring loom and reposition to one side.
   • Detach the wiring loom retaining clip.
   • Unclip the wiring loom from the low-pressure hose.

9. Disconnect the low-pressure hose.

10. 

    CAUTION:Make sure that no power steering fluid contaminates the alternator.
    Disconnect the high-pressure pipe.
    1. Remove the securing bracket retaining bolt.
    2. Disconnect the union.

11. Remove the power steering pump.

12. Remove the power steering pump pulley.

1. 

   NOTE:If the power steering pump is being renewed the unions that are supplied fitted to the pump should be removed and retained for future use.
   Renew the union sealing ring.
   1. Push the sealing ring onto the tool.
   2. Locate the tool on the union and push on the sealing ring.

2. 

   CAUTION:Make sure the pulley is flush with the end of the power steering pump shaft.
   Refit the remaining components in the reverse order.

5. Install the power steering pump drive belt.

6. Bleed the power steering system (refer to procedure contained in this section).
