| General Procedures Draining WARNING:When releasing the cooling system pressure, cover the expansion tank cap with a thick cloth to prevent the possibility of coolant scalding. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury. | | -
Release the cooling system pressure, by slowly rotating the coolant expansion tank cap counterclockwise. | | | -
Remove the coolant expansion tank cap. | | | -
Drain the cooling system. - Remove the radiator drain plug and drain the coolant into a suitable container.
| | | -
Install the radiator drain plug. | Filling and Bleeding | | -
Open the upper bleed valve (if equipped). | | | -
Open the lower bleed valve. | | | -
Disconnect the thermostat housing coolant hose. | | | -
NOTE:Make sure the coolant level is maintained at the maximum (MAX) mark. Fill the coolant expansion tank to the MAX mark. | | | -
When coolant drips out of the lower bleed valve, close the lower bleed valve. | | | -
When coolant drips out of the thermostat housing, connect the thermostat housing coolant hose. | | | -
Fill the coolant expansion tank to the MAX mark until a stable MAX coolant level is achieved. | | | -
Install the coolant expansion tank cap. | | | -
Start the engine and hold the engine speed at 3000 RPM until the cooling fan operates. | | | -
Allow the engine to idle for 30 minutes and turn the engine off. | | | -
Close the upper bleed valve (if equipped). | | | -
Allow the engine to cool down. | | | -
Check the coolant level and if necessary, fill the coolant expansion tank to the MAX mark. | | |
