Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover/Installer, cooling hose clamp

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Drain the cooling system (refer to procedure contained in this section).

  1. Loosen the three water pump pulley bolts.
  1. De-tension and remove the drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. Remove the water pump pulley.

  1. Disconnect the coolant hose.

  1. Remove the water pump (three bolts).
    • Discard the water pump gasket.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the mating faces of the cylinder block and water pump are clean.
    Refit the water pump (three bolts).
    • Install a new water pump gasket.
  1. Refit the coolant hose.
  1. Loosely refit the water pump pulley.
  1. Refit the drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. Tighten the three water pump pulley bolts.
  1. Refill the cooling system and check for leaks (refer to procedure contained in this section).
