Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures
    • Make a note of the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the preset radio stations.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery ground cable.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Danger of scalding if the automatic transmission is warm.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Escaping fluid.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the connector from turning.
    Remove the feed line and the connecting line between the LH and RH oil coolers. Close off the openings.

  1. Detach the radiator fan in the radiator and tie it to one side.
    • Remove the two bolts (left-hand side) from the radiator bracket.
    • Pull the LH radiator bracket down, and in doing so pull the radiator fan out of the guides.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Danger of scalding if the automatic transmission is warm.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Escaping fluid.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the connector from turning.
    Remove the return line and the connecting line between the LH and RH oil coolers. Close off the openings.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Danger of scalding if the automatic transmission is warm.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Escaping fluid.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Stop the fittings from turning using an open-ended spanner.
    Detach both fluid lines from the automatic transmission. Close off the openings.
    1. Return line (leads upwards to the radiator)
    1. Feed line (leads to the lower connection on the additional cooler)

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tighten the lines yet.
    Install the return line and the connecting line between the LH and RH oil coolers.

    Install the feed line and the connecting line between the LH and RH oil coolers.

    NOTE:Do not tighten the lines.
    Install the feed and return lines on the automatic transmission.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the connector from turning.
    Secure the return line and the connecting line between the LH and RH oil coolers.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the connector from turning.
    Secure the feed line and the connecting line between the LH and RH oil coolers.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the connector from turning.
    Secure the feed and return line on the automatic transmission.

  1. Attach the radiator fan to the radiator.
    • Insert the radiator fan in the guides at the top and bottom.
    • Install the two bolts (left-hand side) for the radiator bracket.

  1. Install the lower radiator cover and the left-hand wheel house extension.
    1. Insert self tapping screws instead of rivets (6 off).
    1. Plastic nuts (2 off)
    1. Bolts (7 off)
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Program the pre-set radio stations previously noted.
    • Set the clock.
    • Check the routing of the vacuum hoses and cables and secure them with cable ties.
    • Check the level of the automatic transmission fluid.
      For additional information, refer to Description and Operation in this section.
    • Check fluid levels after a road test and correct if necessary.
    • Check the engine and the cooling system for leaks (visual inspection).
    • Road test the vehicle to collect data for the PCM.
