| Description and Operation P = Park Transmission is blocked - must only be selected if the vehicle is stationary. R = Reverse Must only be selected if the vehicle is stationary. If "R" is engaged by mistake while driving forwards, a safety control valve prevents engagement of the reverse gear clutch above a vehicle speed of 10 km/h. N = Neutral No power is transmitted to the front wheels. D= Drive Normal driving position. The gear ratios are governed in accordance with the accelerator pedal position. Whilst driving it is possible to change from "D" to "L" and vice versa. L = Low NOTE:Top speed may be reached in "D" and "L". Should be selected for long climbs and descents (engine braking). The engine can only be started in "P" and "N". |
