Clutch Controls - Clutch Master Cylinder Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Removal and Installation

Removal

Vehicles built up to 08/1999
  1. Remove the floor covering on the driver's side.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Brake fluid contains polyglycol ether and polyglycol. Prevent eye contact. Wash your hands thoroughly after working with brake fluid. If brake fluid gets into the eyes, wash the eyes with cold running water for 15 minutes. If the irritation persists, call a doctor. If brake fluid is swallowed, drink water and induce vomiting. Call a doctor immediately. Failure to observe these instructions can lead to personal injury.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If brake fluid contacts the paintwork, rinse the affected areas immediately with cold water.
    Detach the pipes in the engine compartment from the clutch master cylinder.
    1. Pull the clip and pull off the feed line.
    1. Pull off the clip and disconnect the high-pressure line.

  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder.
    1. Unhook the clutch pedal return spring.
    1. Pull off the clip and remove the bolt.
    1. Lift up the clutch pedal and unscrew the bolts.
    1. Lift up the brake pedal and unscrew the bolts.
    • Take out the clutch master cylinder together with the foam insulation.

Installation

  1. Install the clutch master cylinder.
    1. Lift up the brake pedal and screw in the bolts.
    1. Lift up the clutch pedal and screw in the bolts.
    1. Fit the bolt and insert the clip.
    1. Hook the clutch pedal return spring in place.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Correct seating of the clip.
    Install the pipes in the engine compartment on the clutch master cylinder.
    1. Push on the feed line and insert the clip.
    1. Connect the high-pressure line and insert the clip.
  1. Bleed the hydraulic clutch system.
  1. Fit the floor covering on the driver's side.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogram the preset radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
    • Carry out a road test to enable the PCM to gather data.
