Removal and Installation

Materials

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the air intake pipes (two pipes).
Vehicles without turbocharger
  1. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts.
    • Discard the nuts.
Vehicles with turbocharger
  1. Remove the catalytic converter to turbocharger nuts.
All vehicles
  1. Raise the vehicle.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not excessively bend or twist the exhaust flexible pipe. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the exhaust flexible pipe.
    Support the flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.

  1. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust pipe nuts.
    • Discard the nuts and gasket.

  1. Detach the catalytic converter support bracket.

  1. Remove the roll restrictor retaining bolt.

  1. Remove the gearshift linkage stabiliser bolt.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:If the catalytic converter is not to be renewed , care must be taken not to damage the assembly, excessive force may damage the ceramic substrates
    Remove the catalytic converter.
    • It may be necessary to rock the engine to give enough clearance to remove the catalytic converter.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation

All Vehicles
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Never use jointing compound forward of the catalytic converter.
    Position the catalytic converter and loosely fit the catalytic converter support bracket.
    • Install new gaskets and nuts.
    • Coat the studs with anti-seize grease.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
Vehicles without turbocharger
  1. Tighten the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts evenly.
    • Use new nuts.

  1. Fully tighten the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts.
Vehicles with turbocharger
  1. Install the catalytic converter to turbocharger nuts.
All vehicles
  1. Raise the vehicle.

  1. Install the roll restrictor retaining bolt.

  1. Install the gearshift linkage stabiliser bolt.

  1. Install the catalytic converter support bracket.

  1. Install the catalytic converter to exhaust pipe nuts.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not excessively bend or twist the exhaust flexible pipe. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the exhaust flexible pipe.
    Remove the exhaust flexible pipe support.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
