Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Disconnecting tool, refrigerant line 1/2" (blue)

Removal

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:"Safety Regulations". For additional information, refer to Section  100-00 General Information.
    Standard preparatory measures
    • Make a note of the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the preset radio stations.
    • Place protective covers over the fenders.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
  1. Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-03A Air Conditioning / 412-03B Auxiliary Climate Control.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Plug the refrigerant line and the condenser.
    Disconnect the refrigerant line at the condenser.

  1. Separate the refrigerant line at the compressor.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Seal the refrigerant line and the accumulator/dehydrator with plugs.
    Disconnect the refrigerant line at the accumulator/dehydrator.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Tightening torques. For additional information, refer to Section  412-03A Air Conditioning / 412-03B Auxiliary Climate Control. Specifications
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Before connecting the refrigerant lines, fit them with new O-rings. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil before fitting them.
    Refit the components in reverse order.
  1. Evacuate and refill the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-03A Air Conditioning / 412-03B Auxiliary Climate Control.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Remove the protective covers.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Set the clock.
    • Road test the vehicle to collect data for the PCM.
  1. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
