Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Expander, Teflon Seal

211-188 (13-015)

Socket, Hydraulic Line Union Nut

Removal

All vehicles

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cover the generator with a suitable cloth to prevent the ingress of power steering fluid.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering fluid supply hose to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering pump connection to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Using the special tool, Disconnect the power steering fluid supply hose from the power steering pump.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Detach the power steering line bracket from the power steering pump.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cover the generator with a suitable cloth to prevent the ingress of power steering fluid
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not disconnect the power steering pump pressure adapter from the power steering pump.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering line to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering pump pressure adapter to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Using the special tool, disconnect the power steering line from the power steering pump pressure adapter.
    • Using a suitable wrench, hold the power steering pump pressure adapter.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
    • Discard the Teflon seal.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering line bracket from the transaxle.

  1. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) electrical connector.
Left-hand drive vehicles

  1. Detach the steering gear return hose from the pressure line.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering line bracket from the steering gear.
Right-hand drive vehicles

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering line bracket from the steering gear.
All vehicles

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering lines to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the steering gear valve body to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear valve body.
    1. Remove the retaining bolt.
    1. Rotate the clamp plate.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
    • Discard the Teflon seals.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Remove the power steering pump to steering gear pressure line.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the collar on the hose is inserted fully into the quick release coupling.
    Push the new line into the new union until it clips into place.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Care must be taken to prevent dirt ingress.
    Using the special tool, install a new Teflon seal onto the power steering pump to steering gear line union.
    1. Push the Teflon seal onto the special tool.
    1. Locate the special tool onto the union and install the Teflon seal.

  1. Install a new Teflon seals onto the power steering lines.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
