Intake Manifold - Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) > < Valve Clearance
Engine - 1.6L Zetec-E (Zetec)/1.8L Zetec-E (Zetec)/2.0L Zetec-E (Zetec) - Intake Manifold Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures:
    • Request the radio keycode.
    • Note the pre-set radio stations.
    • Cut the cable ties if necessary and renew them on installation.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery ground lead.
    Remove the air cleaner housing.
    1. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor multiplug.
    1. Detach the positive crankcase ventilation hose.
    1. Disconnect the intake hose.
    • Pull out the air cleaner housing from the rubber bushes.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body.
    1. Disconnect the cable.
    1. Pull off the plastic clip and lay the accelerator cable to one side.

  1. Pull off the vacuum hoses and detach the connector.
  1. Release the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer to Section  100-00 General Information.

  1. Detach the fuel pipe.

  1. Detach the intake manifold (shown on a removed engine).
    1. Unscrew the intake manifold studs on the front side of the engine.
    1. Unscrew the nine bolts/nuts.

Installation

All vehicles

  1. Attach the intake manifold (shown on a removed engine).
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Stud tightening torque = 10 Nm.
    1. Screw in the intake manifold studs.
    1. Tighten the nine nuts/bolts.

  1. Attach the fuel pipe.

  1. Fit the vacuum hoses and attach the connectors.

  1. Attach the accelerator cable to the throttle body.
    1. Attach the cable.
    1. Attach the plastic clip and place the accelerator cable to one side.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Connect the battery ground lead.
    Attach the air cleaner housing.
    • Press the air cleaner housing into the rubber bushes.
    1. Connect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor multiplug.
    1. Attach the positive crankcase ventilation hose.
    1. Attach the intake hose.
  1. Standard finishing operations:
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Store the preset radio stations.
    • If necessary, renew the cable ties when installing.
Vehicles with front and rear power windows
  1. Initialize the window winder motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
