NOTE:Use a hexagon socket wrench to counterhold the piston rod. Undo the left-hand suspension strut nut five turns (illustration shows right-hand side). | | -
CAUTION:Take care not to damage the gaiter. Detach the lower suspension arm from the spindle carrier (illustration shows right-hand side with wheel attached). | | -
CAUTION:Support the halfshaft. The inner joint must not be bent more than 18 degrees. The outer joint must not be bent at more than 45 degrees. Detach the halfshaft from the transmission using the special tool and secure it to one side. - Collect the oil in a suitable container.

Pull out the left-hand front halfshaft from the transmission and tie it up using cable ties . | | -
Remove the front halfshaft oil seal. | Installation | -
General notes. - Install new self-locking nuts and snap-rings.

Install front halfshaft oil seal. - Drive in seal as far as the stop.

CAUTION:Support the halfshaft. The inner joint must not be bent more than 18 degrees. The outer joint must not be bent at more than 45 degrees. CAUTION:Use the installation sleeve (supplied with every oil seal) to protect the oil seal when inserting the front halfshaft. CAUTION:Make sure that the snap ring is correctly installed. NOTE:Use a new snap-ring. Install the halfshaft on the transmission. | | -
CAUTION:Take care not to damage the gaiters. Install the lower suspension arm to the spindle carrier (illustration shows right-hand side with attached wheel). | | -
NOTE:Fill height is 0-5 mm beneath the lower edge of the filler hole. | | -
NOTE:Use a hexagon socket wrench to counterhold the piston rod. Tighten the suspension strut nut. - Counterhold using an Allen key.
- Tighten by hand with a ring spanner.
- Use a torque wrench to tighten to torque.
