Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the ground cover heat shield.

  1. Disconnect the catalytic converter.

  1. Remove the lower support bracket.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Detach the high - pressure hose.

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

  1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  1. Remove the HO2S.

  1. Disconnect the catalytic converter.
    • Discard the nuts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The catalytic converter must be supported while the support strap is removed.
    Remove the catalytic converter.
    • Remove the front support strap.
    • Discard the gaskets.

Installation

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the support brackets and catalytic converter resulting in failure.
  1. Loosen the rear support strap bolts so that the mating faces are touching allowing the strap to slide in relation to the bracket.

  1. Install the catalytic converter.
    • Use a new gasket and nuts.
    • Loosely install the nuts.

  1. Loosely connect the catalytic converter to the flexible pipe.
    • Use a new gasket.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Tighten nuts.

  1. Install the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)

  1. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.

  1. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.

  1. Install the high - pressure hose.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the nut.

  1. Install the front support strap.

  1. Tighten the bolts.

  1. Loosely install the lower support bracket.

  1. Install the nuts.
    • Use new nuts.

  1. Tighten the bolts.

  1. Install the ground cover heat shield.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
