Exterior Lighting - Headlamp Leveling Motor—Vehicles Built From: 10/2001 Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the headlamp.
    For additional information, refer to Headlamps (one side) in this section.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Voltages in the system are high in the case of vehicles equipped with xenon headlamps. Ensure that the headlamp connector is disconnected before removing the rear headlamp cover. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injuries.
    Remove the rear headlamp cover.

  1. Disconnect the headlamp levelling motor connector.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Turn the headlamp levelling motor anticlockwise when removing from the right headlamp and clockwise when removing from the left headlamp.
    Turn the headlamp levelling motor as far as the stop (right side shown).

  1. Remove headlamp levelling motor.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Ensure that the ball-shaped end of the headlamp levelling motor is pushed into the guide.
    Refit the components in reverse order.
