Roof Opening Panel - Roof Opening Panel Operating Cable and Guide Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the roof opening panel glass.
    For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Glass - in this section.

  1. Detach the water channel.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the two wind deflector stops clear the roof panel.
    Lift the front of the wind deflector clear of the roof panel.

  1. Remove the wind deflector.
    • Using a small screwdriver disconnect the locating pegs from the hinges.

  1. Remove the roof opening panel glass guide arms.
  1. Wind the roof opening panel cable guides to the rear of the cover panel.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Care must be taken not to break the plastic locating pins from the rear of the cover panel.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Two guide studs are clipped to the underside of the cover panel.
    Remove the cover panel.
    • Remove the 16 screws.

  1. Detach the cable from the roof opening panel frame.

  1. Remove the cable and guide.
    1. Slide the guide forward.
    1. Disengage the guide from the guide rail.

Installation
  1. Install the cable and guide.
    1. Engage the guide in the guide rail.
    1. Slide the guide to the rear of the guide rail.

  1. Align both cable guides with the guide stud securing screw hole.

  1. Install the cable in the roof opening panel frame.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not move the winder mechanism.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Check that the two guide studs are in position on the underside of the cover panel.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The 10 front screws are plastic and the six side screws are metal.
    Locate the cover panel onto the roof opening panel frame.
    • Install the 10 front screws.
  1. Wind the cable guide to the rear of the frame.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the plastic locating pins in the rear of the cover panel are correctly located into the guide rails.
    Secure the cover panel.
    • Install the six remaining screws.

  1. Install the roof opening panel glass guide arms.

  1. Attach the water channel.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Check that the rubber stops are correctly located in the wind deflector.
    Install the wind deflector.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the two wind deflector stops clear the roof panel.
    Lower the wind deflector into the roof panel.
  1. Install the roof opening panel glass.

  1. Adjust the roof opening panel glass.
    For additional information, refer to Roof Opening Panel Alignment - in this section.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the handle is in line with the depression in the overhead console. If the handle is not correctly positioned the cable guides must be re - aligned.
    Operate the roof opening panel from fully open to fully closed.
