Starting System - Starter Motor—1.4L Duratec-16V (Sigma)/1.6L Duratec-16V (Sigma) Focus 2004.75 (07/2004-)
Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
    For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    For additional information, refer to: Air Cleaner - 1.4L Duratec-16V (Sigma)/1.6L Duratec-16V (Sigma) (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation).

  1. Remove the starter motor retaining bolt.

4. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.

Removal Details

Item 3 : Starter motor electrical connector
  1. Detach the starter motor electrical connector.

Item 5 : Starter motor lower retaining bolt

  1. Support the starter motor.
