Removal

  1. Remove the transaxle fluid pan.
    For additional information, refer to Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter in this section.

  1. Disconnect the transaxle electrical connections.
    1. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
    1. Disconnect the solenoid valves electrical connector.
    • Detach the wiring harness from the main control valve body.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Only remove the indicated bolts.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the manual valve remains in place while removing the main control valve body.
    Remove the main control valve body.
    • Remove the bolts.

  1. Remove the transaxle case O-rings.
    • Discard the O-rings.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new O-rings.
    Install the transaxle case O-ring seals.

  1. Move the manual valve detent lever into position "1".

  1. Move the manual valve to the indicated position as shown.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the O-ring seals are correctly positioned.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the manual valve is located in the manual valve lever groove.
    Position the main control valve body and loosely install two retaining bolts.

  1. Check the function and the position of the manual valve.
    • Rotate the manual valve detent lever through all positions.
    • Move the manual valve detent lever into position "2" and check the indicated position in the main control valve body.

  1. Install the remaining main control valve body retaining bolts.

  1. Connect the transaxle electrical connections.
    1. Connect the sensor electrical connector.
    1. Connect the solenoid valves electrical connector.
    • Attach the wiring harness to the main control valve body.
  1. Install the transaxle fluid pan.
