Removal and Installation

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Only install a new receiver drier if moisture was able to enter the open system an extended period (2-3 hours).
All vehicles
  1. Drain the air conditioning system.
    For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).

  1. Detach the refrigerant line from the cooling fan motor and shroud.
  1. Remove the front bumper cover.
    For additional information, refer to: Front Bumper Cover (501-19 Bumpers, Removal and Installation).
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the front bumper bracket (right-hand side shown).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the condenser core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the upper refrigerant line from the condenser core.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the condenser core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the lower refrigerant line from the condenser core.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
Vehicles built up to 02/2002

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use a suitable wooden block between radiator grille opening panel and condenser core to prevent damage to the condenser core.
    Using a 16 mm drill bit, drill holes at the marked points into the radiator grille opening panel to gain access to the condenser core retaining screws.
All vehicles

  1. Remove the condenser core retaining screws (radiator with condenser core showing removed for clarity).

  1. Remove the lower engine cover (if equipped).

  1. Detach and lower the radiator from the bracket (right side shown).
    1. Remove the retaining bolt.
    1. Remove the radiator rubber retaining block.

  1. Remove the condenser core.
    1. Push the radiator towards the engine and pull the condenser core to the side.
    1. Remove the condenser core.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Lubricate the refrigerant line O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil before installation.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
