Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Evacuate the air conditioning (A/C) system.
    For additional information, refer to: Klimaanlage entleeren, evakuieren und befüllen (412-00, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the radiator.
    For additional information, refer to: Kühler (303-03B, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the cover from the front bumper.
    For additional information, refer to: Abdeckung - vorderer Stoßfänger (501-19, Removal and Installation).

  1. Remove the front bumper (right-hand side shown).

  1. Remove the upper right-hand retaining bolts of the intercooler.

  1. Remove the upper left-hand retaining bolts of the intercooler.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Close off the refrigerant line to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the lower refrigerant line from the condenser.
    • Discard the O-rings.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Close off the refrigerant line to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the upper refrigerant line from the condenser.
    • Discard the O-rings.
  1. Raise the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the intercooler outlet pipe from the intercooler.
    1. Remove the snap ring.
    1. Detach the pipe.

  1. Remove the lower left-hand retaining bolt of the intercooler.

  1. Remove the lower right-hand retaining bolt of the intercooler.
  1. Remove the intercooler with the condenser.

  1. Remove the condenser.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-rings.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the refrigerant line O-rings with clean refrigerant oil before installation.
    Install the components in the reverse order.
