Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. General Information
    • Roof and lower back panel must be removed before the start of repair.
    • Depending on the kind of damage, a sectional repair of the quarter panel is possible.
    • Parts which need removing: Bumper, tail lamp, weatherstrip of luggage compartment lid, fuel tank filler pipe flap, fuel tank filler pipe, carpet trim luggage compartment, seat cushion, backrest and door weatherstrip.
    • Move carpet trim and electric wiring out of working area.

  1. Quarter Panel
    1. Possible cutting area.
    1. Mill out spot welds.
    1. In the area of the rear parcel shelf mill off two sheet metal gauges.
    1. Release spot welds in the area of water drain panel and tail lamp support from inside.
    1. Cut.

  1. Reinforcement Panel - Lock Striker
    • Mill out spot welds.

Installation
  1. Reinforcement Panel - Lock Striker
    • Electric resistance spot weld.

  1. Quarter Panel
    1. Apply clinched flange sealer immediately before installing the new quarter panel.
    1. Produce a continuous MIG weld seam.
    1. Apply a support at cut edge and produce a continuous MIG weld seam.
    1. Spot weld.

  1. Tail Lamp Support Panel
    • Electric resistance spot weld.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Align tail lamp and bumper before welding the bezel tail lamp support panel.

    • Electric resistance spot weld.
