Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures
    • Make a note of the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the preset radio stations.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:"Safety Precautions" and "General Requirements and Safety Measures for Maintenance and Repair Work". For additional information, refer to Section  100-00 General Information.
    Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.

  1. Detach the coolant expansion tank.
    • Remove the single screw.
    • Unhook the coolant expansion tank from its bracket.

  1. Remove the bulkhead extension.
    • Remove the rubber seal.
    • Unclip the cover of the central junction box (CJB).
    • Remove the single screw.

  1. Remove the bulkhead extension (continued).
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Unclip the connector.

  1. Remove the bulkhead extension (continued).
    • Remove the single screw.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Seal the evaporator and refrigerant lines with plugs.
    Disconnect the refrigerant lines.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Plug the heat exchanger.
    Pull off the connector and detach the coolant hoses.
    1. Separate the electrical connector of the heater control valve.
    1. Undo the clamps and detach the coolant hoses.

  1. Remove the heater cover.
    • Remove the four bolts.

  1. Pull out the evaporator (push fit).

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Before connecting the refrigerant lines, fit them with new O-rings. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil before fitting them.
    Refit the components in the reverse order.
  1. Drain and refill the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
    • Road test the vehicle to collect data for the PCM.
  1. Check that the heater/air conditioning operates properly.
