Rear Oil Seal Replacer

Oil Seal Pilot

Seal Remover

Removal

Automatic transaxle vehicles
  1. Remove the flexplate. For additional information, refer to Flexplate in this section.
Manual transaxle vehicles
  1. Remove the flywheel. For additional information, refer to Flywheel in this section.
All vehicles

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use care to avoid damaging the crankshaft sealing surface.
    Use the special tool to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
  1. Inspect the crankshaft rear oil seal area.

Installation

All vehicles

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the rear oil seal area and the crankshaft rear oil seal lip with Super Premium SAE 5W-20 Motor Oil or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSS-MZC153-H.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the crankshaft rear oil seal is on correctly and that the edges are not rolled over.
    Using the special tools install the crankshaft rear oil seal.
Manual transaxle vehicles
  1. Install the flywheel. For additional information, refer to Flywheel in this section.
Automatic transaxle vehicles
  1. Install the flexplate. For additional information, refer toFlexplate in this section.
