Removal

  1. Remove the clutch.
    • Immobilize the flywheel with Special Tool 303-254.
    • Slacken the bolts of the clutch pressure plate evenly.
    • Remove the clutch pressure plate with the clutch disk.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Mark the installation position.
    Remove the flywheel.
    • Remove Special Tool 303-254

  1. Pull out the oil seal.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The oil seal must be inserted as far as its stop in Special Tool 303-291.
    Fit the new crankshaft rear seal in the special tool.
    • To fit it correctly, place the special tool in a vice and press in the seal using the handle of a hammer.
    1. Incorrect position
    1. Correct position

  1. Pull in the oil seal.
    • Pull in the oil seal using the special tool and three flywheel bolts.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Remove any residue of thread-locking compound from the threaded bores on the crankshaft.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Use new bolts.
    Fit the flywheel.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Apply the high-temperature grease thinly enough so that when the clutch disk is fitted onto the transmission input shaft, no grease is squeezed out from the splines.
    Coat the drive splines of the clutch disk evenly with high-temperature grease .

  1. Center the clutch disk on the pressure plate.

  1. Fit the clutch.
    1. Locate the clutch pressure plate in position with the centered clutch disk.
    1. Tighten the bolts in several stages, a turn at a time, working diagonally.
    1. Check the centering and correct as necessary.
