Detach the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose and the vacuum hose from the engine cover. | | -

Remove the air cleaner housing. - Detach the clamp from the air cleaner intake hose.
- Detach the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the air cleaner housing.

Remove the oil level indicator and oil level indicator tube upper retaining bolt. | Vehicles with manual transaxle | -
Loosen the transaxle upper retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | Vehicles with automatic transaxle | -
Loosen the transaxle upper retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | All vehicles | -
Remove the oil level indicator tube lower retaining bolt. | | -
Remove the right-hand front fender splash shield. | | -
Remove the engine support insulator. | | -
Loosen the engine rear mount bracket retaining bolts. | | -
Drain the engine. - Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE:Inspect the oil pan drain plug seal for damage. Install a new drain plug and seal if required. Install the drain plug. | Vehicles with manual transaxle | -
Loosen the transaxle right-hand retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | Vehicles with automatic transaxle | -
Remove the starter motor. Remove the rubber cover and the four torque converter to flexplate retaining nuts. - Rotate the torque converter to gain access to remaining nuts.

Loosen the transaxle right-hand retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | All vehicles | -
Loosen the transaxle left-hand retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | | -
Remove the engine front cover lower retaining bolts. | | -
Remove the transaxle lower retaining bolts. | | -
Slide back the transaxle approximately 8 mm. | | -
Remove the oil pan retaining bolts. | | -
Using the special tool, remove the oil pan. | Installation All vehicles | -
Clean the mating faces of the cylinder block, the oil pan and the engine front cover with cleaner. | | -
Apply a 3 mm bead of sealant to the oil pan. | | -
NOTE:Install the oil pan within 10 minutes of applying the silicone sealant and tighten the retaining bolts within a further 5 minutes. Apply a 3 mm bead of sealant to the oil pan. | | -
NOTE:Do not tighten the oil pan retaining bolts at this stage. Install the oil pan. | | -
NOTE:Do not tighten the transaxle lower retaining bolts at this stage. Install the transaxle lower retaining bolts. | | -
Install the engine front cover lower retaining bolts. | | -
Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts in the sequence shown. | | -
Tighten the transaxle lower retaining bolts. | | -
Tighten the engine rear mount bracket retaining bolts. | | -
Install the engine support insulator. | | -
Install the right-hand front fender splash shield. | | -
Install the oil level indicator tube lower retaining bolt. | | -
Tighten the transaxle left-hand retaining bolts. | Vehicles with automatic transaxle | -
NOTE:Install new torque converter to flexplate retaining nuts. Install the torque converter to flexplate retaining nuts (four nuts). - Install the rubber cover.

Install the starter motor. Tighten the transaxle right-hand retaining bolts. | | -

Install the oil level indicator and oil level indicator tube upper retaining bolt. | | -
Install the air cleaner housing. - Attach the positive PCV hose to the air cleaner housing.
- Attach the air cleaner to engine intake hose clamp.

Install the engine cover. | | -
Attach the PCV hose and the vacuum hose to the engine cover. | | -
