Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
Disconnect the solenoid body electrical connector. | | -
Remove the transmission range (TR) sensor. - Disconnect the TR sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts.

Remove the wiring harness retaining clip. | | -
Disconnect the selector lever cable and bracket. - Remove the bracket retaining bolts.
- Detach the selector lever cable from the bracket.

Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: Jacking (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation) / Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation). | | -
CAUTION:Prevent the fluid pipe from turning, use an open-end wrench, do not remove it from the transaxle housing. Disconnect the transaxle cooler inlet pipe. - Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE:Remove the bolts in the sequence shown. Remove the main control valve cover. - Disconnect the main control valve cover vent tube.

Remove the fluid pan cover gasket. | | -
Remove the main control valve body retaining bolts. | | -
CAUTION:Do not allow loose manual valve to become damaged. Disconnect the manual valve link from the manual control valve when removing the main control valve body from the case. | | -
CAUTION:Do not pull solenoid body electrical connector wires. Remove the solenoid body electrical connector. - Depress the retaining tabs and push the connector through the transaxle case.

CAUTION:Make sure the manual valve control lever does not fall out. Remove the manual valve control body. | Installation | -
Install the manual valve control body. | | -
NOTE:Inspect the solenoid valve body harness connector O-ring seal and install a new as necessary, before installing solenoid valve body harness connector in transaxle case. Push the solenoid valve body harness connector into the transaxle case. | | -
Connect the manual valve link to the manual control valve. | | -
Position the main control valve body and install the retaining bolts in the sequence shown. | | -
Install the manual control lever. - Align the manual control lever.
- Tighten the retaining bolt.

Position the fluid pan cover gasket on the transaxle case. | | -
NOTE:Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown. Install the main control valve cover. - Connect the fluid pan cover vent tube.

Connect the transaxle cooler inlet line. | | -
NOTE:Do not fully tighten the TR sensor bolts at this stage. Install the TR sensor. | | -
NOTE:Make sure the manual control lever is in the "N" (NEUTRAL) position for TR sensor adjustment. Rotate the manual valve detent lever assembly to the "N" (NEUTRAL) position. - Low 1 position.
- Low 2 position.
- "D" (DRIVE) position.
- "N" (NEUTRAL) position.
- "R" (REVERSE) position.
- "P" (PARK) position.

Using the special tool, align the TR sensor. - Install the special tool and align the TR sensor with the slots.
- Tighten the retaining bolts and remove the special tool.

Connect the selector lever cable to the control lever. - Attach the selector lever cable.
- Install the retaining bolts.

Install the wiring harness retaining clip. | | -
Connect the TR sensor electrical connector. | | -
Connect the solenoid body electrical connector. | | -
Install the battery tray. | | -
Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
Check the transmission fluid level. For additional information, refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill (307-01A Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: 4-Speed Automatic Transmission (CD4E), General Procedures). | | -
Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures). | | |
