Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: 4-Speed Automatic Transmission (CD4E) - Transmission Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter Mondeo 2001 (10/2000-02/2007)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
    For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
    • Remove the battery.

  1. Remove the battery tray.
    • Remove the clips.

  1. Disconnect the solenoid body electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Using and open-end wrench, prevent the fluid pipe adapter from turning, do not remove the adapter from the transaxle housing.
    Disconnect the transaxle cooler inlet pipe.
    • Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Remove the bolts in the sequence shown.
    Remove the fluid pan.
    • Disconnect the fluid pan vent tube.

  1. Remove the fluid pan cover gasket.

Installation
  1. Position the fluid pan cover gasket on the transaxle case.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
    Install the fluid pan.
    • Connect the fluid pan vent tube.

  1. Connect the transaxle cooler inlet line.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Connect the TR sensor electrical connector.

  1. Connect the solenoid body electrical connector.

  1. Install the battery tray.
    • Install the clips.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable.

  1. Check the transmission fluid level.

  1. Initialize the door window motors.
    For additional information, refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures).
