Removal and Installation

Removal

WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

  1. Remove the flexible coupling to steering gear pinion shaft pinch bolt.

  1. Loosen the flexible coupling to column shaft pinch bolt.
  1. Remove the fuel tank.
    For additional information, refer to Fuel Tank in this section.
  1. Loosen the front wheel nuts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
  1. Remove the front wheels.
  1. Remove the catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Section  309-00 Exhaust System.

  1. Partially lower the front crossmember.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable and conduit from the retaining clips.

  1. Detach the fuel supply and return line from the retaining clips.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Fuel return line connectors are red or are identified by a red band.
    Disconnect the fuel return line from the fuel rail return line. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00 Fuel System - General Information.
  1. Remove the fuel return line.

Installation

WARNING:

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
