Remove the Fuel Filter. Refer to: Fuel Filter (310-01C Fuel Tank and Lines - 1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel, Removal and Installation). | | -
NOTE:Only rotate the camshaft in the normal direction of rotation. Using the camshaft groove as a guide, rotate the crankshaft to 5 degrees before top dead center (TDC). | | -
Clean the area around the fuel injection supply manifold, high pressure fuel supply lines and surrounding areas. Refer to: Fuel Injection Component Cleaning (303-04C Fuel Charging and Controls - 1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel, General Procedures). | | -
CAUTION:Use an open-ended wrench to prevent the component from turning. CAUTION:Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps. NOTE:The fuel supply line must be installed with the yellow identification collar adjacent to the fuel injector and the blue identification collar adjacent to the fuel rail. NOTE:The fuel supply line must be installed with the yellow identification collar adjacent to the fuel pump and the blue identification collar adjacent to the fuel rail. Discard the high-pressure fuel supply lines. | | -
Discard the thermostat housing gasket. | | -
Discard the fuel injector sealing washers. | | -
Discard the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt. | | -
Loosen the camshaft pulley retaining bolt by 5 turns. | | -
Discard the fuel pump seal retainer. | | -
Discard the cylinder head retaining bolts. | | -
Remove the Crankshaft Rear Seal. Refer to: Crankshaft Rear Seal (303-01D Engine - 1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel, Removal and Installation). | | -
NOTE:The seal is to be reused unless damaged. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container. -
Remove the oil pan retaining nuts and bolts. | | -
CAUTION:Take extra care not to damage the mating faces. | | -
NOTE:Note the position of each component before removal. Discard the connecting rod bearing cap retaining bolts. | | -
NOTE:Note the position of the bearing caps in relation to the rotation of the crankshaft. The bearing caps are not interchangeable. Discard the crankshaft main bearing cap retaining bolts. | | |
