Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4)/2.3L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Before removing the TCM, make certain that the selector lever is in the N position.

  1. Torque: 16 Nm

Installation
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the component is clean, free of foreign material and lubricant.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the terminals or pins/sockets of the transmission control module (TCM) and the TCM connector are not bent or damaged.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The component must be aligned with the installation markings.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The new TCM is set in the N position at the factory
    Torque: 25 Nm
  1. To install reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Refer to: Selector Lever Cable Adjustment (307-05 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle External Controls - Vehicles With: 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (AWF21), General Procedures).
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:New units must be configured using the Programmable Module Installation Routine in the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS).
