Removal

All vehicles
  1. WARNING:
WARNING:The hydraulic fluid pressure in the automated gearshift system (ASM) pressure accumulator must be released before attempting any repairs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
Using worldwide diagnostic system (WDS), release the pressure in the hydraulic pressure accumulator.

  1. Remove the transmission control module (TCM) fuse.
    • Remove the battery junction box (BJB) cover.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. WARNING:
WARNING:Make sure that the automated gearshift system is not pressurized. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
Using a suitable brake hose clamp, clamp the hydraulic fluid reservoir hose.
Vehicles built up to 10/2002

  1. Disconnect the clutch actuator hydraulic fluid supply hose.
Vehicles built 10/2002 onwards

  1. Detach the clutch actuator hydraulic fluid supply hose from the clutch actuator.
    • Discard the hose clamp.
All vehicles

  1. Disconnect the clutch actuator position sensor electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the clutch actuator pressure hose from the clutch actuator.
    • Discard the clutch actuator pressure hose sealing washers.

  1. Remove the clutch actuator.

Installation

All vehicles

  1. NOTE:
NOTE:Make sure that the locating block is in line with the housing ribs.
    Install the locating block.

  1. Install the clutch actuator.

  1. NOTE:
NOTE:Install new clutch actuator pressure hose sealing washers.
Connect the clutch actuator pressure hose to the clutch actuator.
Vehicles built up to 10/2002

  1. Connect the clutch actuator hydraulic fluid supply hose.
Vehicles built 10/2002 onwards

  1. NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new supply hose clamp.
Connect the clutch actuator hydraulic fluid supply hose.
All vehicles

  1. Connect the clutch actuator position sensor electrical connector.

  1. CAUTION:
CAUTION:Make sure the brake hose clamp is removed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the automated gearshfit (ASM) components.
    Remove the brake hose clamp.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Install the transmission control module (TCM) fuse.
    • Install the battery junction box (BJB) cover.
  1. Bleed the clutch system.
For additional information, refer to: Clutch System Bleeding - Vehicles With: Automated Gearshift (308-00 Manual Transmission/Transaxle and Clutch - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Using worldwide diagnostic system (WDS), allow the TCM to relearn the clutch parameters.
  1. Using WDS, allow the TCM to relearn the clutch touch point.

  1. Check the fluid level in the automated gearshift hydraulic fluid reservoir and top up as necessary to the MAX mark with hydraulic fluid.
