Removal and Installation

General Equipment

Removal

  1. If a new PCM is to be installed, upload the PCM configuration information using the Programmable Modules Installation Routine, prior to commencing the removal of the PCM.

  1. Disconnect the battery the ground cable.
    Refer to: Battery Disconnect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

  1. Torque: 10 Nm

Installation

All vehicles
  1. To install reverse the removal procedure.
Vehicles with 2.4L (140 PS) diesel engine
  1. If a new PCM is to be installed, connect the WDS and download the PCM configuration information using the Programmable Modules Installation Routine, after the installation of the PCM.

  1. Carry out the Injector Correction Factors procedure using the following menu options: ToolBox/Powertrain/Service Functions

  1. Carry out the Oil Quality History function using the following menu options: ToolBox/Powertrain/Service Functions

  1. Carry out the Stored Speed Limit function using the following menu options: ToolBox/Powertrain/Service Functions

  1. Carry out the Pump Learn procedure using the following menu options: ToolBox/Powertrain/Service Functions

  1. Carry out the Pilot Correction Learn procedure using the following menu options: ToolBox/Powertrain/Service Functions
    General Equipment: Ford diagnostic equipment
Vehicles with 2.2L, 2.3L, 2.4L (100 PS) diesel engine or 2.4L (115 PS) diesel engine
  1. If a new PCM is to be installed, connect the WDS and download the PCM configuration information using the Programmable Modules Installation Routine, after the installation of the PCM.

  1. Change the engine oil and the oil filter.
  1. Carry out the oil reset procedure.
    Refer to: Oil Change Reminder Indicator Reset (413-09 Warning Devices, General Procedures).
