Besides typical instrument cluster gauge and indicator support, the electronic functions and features that the EMIC supports or controls include the
following:

Active Service System - In vehicles equipped with the Active Service SYSTem (ASSYST) engine oil maintenance indicator option, the EMIC
electronic circuit board includes a second dedicated microprocessor. This second microprocessor evaluates various data including time, mileage,
and driving conditions to calculate the required engine oil service intervals, and provides both visual and audible alerts to the vehicle operator
when certain maintenance services are required.

Audible Warnings - The EMIC electronic circuit board is equipped with an audible tone generator and programming that allows it to provide
various audible alerts to the vehicle operator, including buzzing and chime tones. An electromechanical relay is also soldered onto the circuit
board to produce audible clicks that are used to emulate the sound of a conventional turn signal or hazard warning flasher.

Panel Lamps Dimming Control - The EMIC provides electronic dimming level messages to the Roof Control Module (RCM) (also known as
the DBE control unit) that synchronizes the dimming level of all panel lamps dimmer controlled lamps with that of the cluster general illumination
lamps and the multi-function indicators, except when the headlamp switch is in the AUTO position with the optional Automatic Driving Lights.

The EMIC houses up to three analog gauges and has provisions for up to 28 indicators. Some of the EMIC indicators are automatically configured when
the EMIC is connected to the vehicle electrical system for compatibility with certain optional equipment or equipment required for regulatory purposes
in certain markets. Other indicators may require the EMIC be configured (parameterized or programmed) for compatibility with optional or required
equipment using a diagnostic scan tool. While each EMIC may have provisions for indicators to support every available option, the configurable
indicators will not be functional in a vehicle that does not have the equipment that an indicator supports.
The EMIC includes the following analog gauges:

Fuel Gauge (25) - with optional EMIC (with steering wheel switches) only. An electronic segmented bar graph fuel gauge in the multi-function
display (28) is used with the standard EMIC (without steering wheel switches).
