Paint Abrasion/Peeling on Rear Lower Quarter Panel Flange (Repair, Paint and Install Plastic Strip)
Models:
2003-2008 HUMMER H2
Condition
Some customers may comment that the paint on the rear lower quarter panel is peeling.
Cause
This may be caused by the rear bumper end-cap seal contacting the panel.
Correction
Refinish the panel and install plastic extrusions strip.
1.
Remove the spare tire latch.
2.
Remove the bumper cover.
3.
Remove the 10 mm bolt in the wheelhouse liner and move the liner to gain access to the park lamp in the bumper cap.
4.
Remove the parking lamp wire harness and the two 10 mm nuts from the parking lamp.
5.
Remove the push pin from the bumper corner cap.
6.
Remove the bumper corner cap.
7.
Remove the parking lamp from the corner cap.
8.
Remove the pencil brace and metal bumper filler.
Important:
Always refer to your paint manufacturer for specific refinishing processes.
9.
Refinish the rear quarter panel as necessary. For the proper refinish materials to use, refer to the 2008 GMWI5406 GM Globally Approved
