TITLE: HVAC Mode Actuator Cam Gear Alignment Is Incorrect After Replacement
APPLIES TO: 03-04 Ascender
SERVICE TIP:
Condition:
Cam gear alignment is incorrect after replacing the HVAC mode actuator.
Correction:
1. Remove white cam gear and silver shaft as an assembly from the mode actuator. With the actuator removed from the case, place the actuator
across an opened vise with the white gear facing down.
2. Use a socket (the same size as the actuator shaft) to gently tap the shaft out with the white gear attached.
3. When this shaft is separated from the actuator, align the black gear on the HVAC case with an alignment tab and mesh it with the slot on the white
gear.
4. Once the white gear is installed to the black gear on the HVAC case, the mode actuator can then be re-attached to the actuator. This can be pressed
together by hand.
5. Re-secure the actuator back to the HVAC case.
6. Finally, recalibrate the actuators using the Tech 2.
