Radio/Stereo: Description and Operation
Voltage to the Radio is available at all times through the RDO BATT Fuse19 and the CKT 340 (ORN) wire. This circuit provides voltage for Radio
station memory storage. It also provides voltage for the clock memory. With the ignition Switch in ACC or RUN, voltage is supplied to the Radio
through the RDO IGN Fuse 24 and the CKT 1301 (DK ORN) wire. The ground path is provided by the CKT 1050 (BLK) wire to Grounds G203/G204.
Radio display illumination voltage is variable when the Headlamp Switch is in the PARK or HEAD position via the IP Dimmer Switch, ILLUM Fuse 5
and the CKT 1220 (GRY) wire. The current return path is provided by the CKT 1050 (BLK) wire to Grounds G203/G204.
Speed compensate volume (if equipped) is controlled by a vehicle speed signal provide by the Vehicle Control Module (VCM)/Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) to the Radio through the CKT 389 (DK GRN) wire. As speed increases so will the volume. Each notch of the control ring of the Radio
allows for more volume compensation.
