Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Rear
Rear Cable (Left Side)
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and support with safety stands.
2. Loosen nut at equalizer.
3. Retainer.
4. Brake Drum and lining.
5. Rear cable from lever.
6. Retainer at backing plate.
7. Rear cable.
Rear Cable (Right Side)
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Brake Linings and drum.
2. Rear parking brake cable to lever.

Pull park brake inner cable as far rearward as possible.

Slide inner cable end fitting into brake backing plate opening until cable snaps into brake lever.

Pull cable twice to verify proper connection.
^
Snap cable conduit fitting into brake backing plate.
3. Route cable through guide (left side cable first).
4. Strap parking brake cable tight against rear axle and secure loose end of strap back through tabs in buckle. Tighten the strap so it does not move
along the rear axle.
5. Retainer.
^ Adjust Parking Brake Cable.
6. Lower the vehicle.
