Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

vacuum Booster

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Apply parking brake.
2. Nuts from master cylinder.
3. Master cylinder.

Support the master cylinder.

4. Vacuum hose from booster.
5. Retainer and switch from brake pedal.
6. Pushrod.
7. Nuts from vacuum booster.

^

The nuts must be removed from inside the vehicle.

8. Booster assembly.
9. Gasket.

Booster Pushrod

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Gasket.
2. Vacuum booster assembly.
3. Nuts to vacuum booster.

^

Tighten nut to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).

4. Pushrod.
5. Switch and retainer to brake pedal.
6. Vacuum hose.
7. Gauge the booster rod as follows.

Measure
Tool Required:

J 37839 or a Pushrod Height Gauge
