Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation
This system uses a three-way catalytic converter and is an emission control device that reduces hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide pollutants. The
converter contains beads which are coated with a catalytic material of platinum, and rhodium. These reduce the level of nitrogen oxides. The catalyst in
the three-way converter is not serviceable. Reinstall the correct three-way catalytic converter to avoid engine driveability problems.
