Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
NOTE:

The Special Service Tool (SST) required to remove the pump is a J 25034-B Pulley Remover.

Place a drain pan below the pump and remove the pump following the procedures listed below.
1. Remove the power steering hoses, capping them after removal.
2. Unload the tensioner assembly.
3. Take off the belt.
4. Remove the pulley by completing the following steps.
a. Install the Special Service Tool (SST) J 25034-B. Be sure the pilot bolt bottoms in the pump shaft by turning the nut to the top of the pilot
bolt.
b. Hold the pilot bolt and turn the nut counterclockwise.
5. Take off the filler neck tube.
6. Remove the rear brace nut from the engine stud.
