DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the steering gear from the vehicle.
2. Remove the adjuster plug (55).
3. Remove the stub shaft (40) and valve assembly.
4. Remove the stub shaft (40) from the valve assembly, if necessary by doing the following procedures.

Tap the stub shaft (40) lightly on a wood block to loosen the shaft cap.

Pull the cap and valve spool (41) out from the valve body (43) 6 mm (1/4 inch) and disengage the stub shaft pin from hole in valve spool
(41).
5. Remove the valve assembly and, if necessary. Remove valve spool (41) by pulling and rotating from valve body (43) and:

Remove valve spool O-ring seal (42).
^
Remove valve body teflon rings (46) and O-ring seals (45).
ASSEMBLY
1. If necessary to reinstall the valve assembly, do the following.
^
Install the valve spool O-ring seal (42) to the valve spool (41).
^
Lubricate the valve spool (41) and O-ring seal (42) with power steering fluid.
^
Install the valve spool (41) to the valve body (43) by pushing and rotating until hole in the valve spool (41) for stub shaft pin is accessible
from the opposite end of valve body (43).
