Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement

Tools Required

J 45951 Front Seal Installer

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (See: Cylinder Block Assembly/Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft

Pulley/Service and Repair).

Important: Do not damage the engine front cover or the crankshaft.

2. Pry out the crankshaft front oil seal using a suitable tool and discard the seal.

Installation Procedure

1. Apply the engine oil to the outside diameter of the crankshaft front oil seal.
