Blower Motor: Description and Operation

With the ignition switch in START and the inhibitor switch in PARK or NEUTRAL (automatic transaxle), or with the clutch pedal depressed (manual
transaxle), voltage is applied to the restart relay, and the relay energizes.

When the ignition switch is turned to ON, the relay deenergizes and voltage is applied from the alternator to the heater relay through the normally closed
contacts of the restart relay. The relay energizes allowing voltage to be applied from the main fuse to the blower motor through fuse 1. The temperature
fan switch sends a blower speed request signal to the temperature lever and fan control unit. The temperature lever and fan control unit sends a blower
control signal to the power transistor. The power transistor supplies a current path to ground to the blower motor. If the temperature level and fan control
unit receive a maximum blower motor speed request, it grounds the max hi relay. The relay contacts close, bypassing the power transistor, and supplies
ground directly to the blower motor. The blower motor then runs at full speed.
