SERVICE INFORMATION
Condition:
One or both of the magnetic latches do not hold the rear cup holder lid closed.
Possible Cause:
The metal strike plate for the magnetic latches does not stay bonded to the plastic, or the cover is not flat.
Correction:
To correct this condition, replace the rear beverage holder with a new rear cup holder/console cover (P/N 8-97198-421-3) using the procedure outlined
in this bulletin.
NOTE
For vehicles with VIN prior to W4372115, a small modification to the rear console bracket is required. (Refer to Service Procedure Steps 4 and 5)
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the rear ashtray from the holder and remove the two attachment screws to remove the ashtray bolder. (Figure 1)
