Turn the ignition switch to "OFF".

Disconnect the battery (-) cable.

REMOVAL

1.

Unfasten the air bag assembly from the steering wheel by removing two bolts.

2.

Lift the airbag partway out of the steering wheel.

3.

Disconnect the 2-pin yellow SRS connector and the 1-pin green horn lead-connector to remove the air bag.

4.

Remove the steering wheel fixing nut.

5.

Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.

6.

Apply a setting mark across the steering wheel and shaft so that the steering wheel may be reinstalled in the original position.

7.

Remove the steering wheel using essential tool J-29752.

IMPORTANT  Never apply force to the steering wheel in the direction of the shaft by using a hammer or other impact tools in an attempt to remove the
steering wheel. The steering shaft is designed as an energy-absorbing unit.

8.

Remove the steering lower cover.

9.

Remove the driver knee bolster assembly.

10.

Remove the steering column cover.

11.

Remove the lower air conditioning duct.

12.

Disconnect the (I-13) 2-pin yellow SRS connector from the base of the steering column.

13.

Remove the (Solid Green) horn lead-pin from terminal # 12 of the black (I-32) combination switch connector at the base of the steering column.

Remove the (white) locking tab. (Figure 1)

Insert pin extractor to release pin from terminal # 12. (Figure 2)

Remove (Solid Green) wire and lead-pin from (I-32) connector.
