Wagoneer L4-150 2.5L VIN E TBI (1990)
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1990 model Jeep Cherokee and Wagoneer
vehicles equipped with the anti-lock brake system (ABS). The following conditions could occur, and in certain circumstances might result in a vehicle
crash without prior warning:

The hydraulic system could become plugged due to contaminated brake fluid. If this occurs, an increase in stopping distance or reduced braking
control could result.

A snap ring in the brake master cylinder boost valve could fail due to corrosion. If this happens, the brakes could "drag" after the brake pedal is
released.

The high pressure hose of the ABS system may come loose from its end fitting, causing loss of hydraulic assist for the brake system. An
increase in stopping distance could result. In addition, brake fluid leakage from the hose could cause an engine compartment fire, which could
be hazardous to vehicle occupants.
Your Jeep vehicle, identified on the enclosed forms, is affected. For this reason we ask that you arrange for service to correct these conditions without
delay. The service and required parts as described in this letter will be provided free of charge.
During the repair, your dealer will replace the high and low pressure brake hoses and rebuild the actuator assembly in the vehicle's ABS system. While
performing this service, the dealer will also inspect the front brake hose routing and ensure that there is proper clearance between the hoses and the front
tires.
The work will take about three hours to complete. However, additional time may be required depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and
processed. To obtain this service:
^ Contact your dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.
^ Take both of the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Forms with you at the time of your appointment and give them to your dealer. The forms
show the identification number for the vehicle which requires service and identify the repairs to be made.
If you have any problem obtaining the needed repairs, please contact the Chrysler Zone Service Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service
Assistance" in your Operator's Manual.) A Zone representative will arrange for prompt servicing of your vehicle.
We regret any inconvenience which this action may cause you. However, we believe that you understand our concern for motor vehicle safety, and for
your continued satisfaction with our products. If your dealer fails or is unable to remedy this defect without charge within a reasonable time, you may
submit a written complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street, S.W., Washington D.C 20590, or

DEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
SAFETY RECALL # 319T - ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM HIGH PRESSURE HOSE

This service requirement applies only to 1990 Model Year XJ-Body (Jeep Cherokee and Wagoneer) vehicles equipped with anti-lock brake system
(ABS) and built from March 16, 1990 through the end of the model year. Brake system high pressure hoses must be replaced on involved vehicles.

Each involved 1990 model year vehicle also requires service for ABS Recall # 305T.
Service for both recalls should be completed during one appointment.
^
A Recall # 319T supplement will be issued in the near future covering some early-built
1991 model year XJ-Body vehicles for replacement of the ABS high pressure hose only. Both the repair procedure and parts package will be
different for the 1991 models.

A supply of the required high pressure hoses will be distributed initially to all involved dealers. This quantity will cover about 50% of the total
vehicles involved. Additional parts may be ordered as needed to support customer demand.
