Heated Rear window Operation

A feed from the battery positive terminal, via the alternator (C183-1), is connected by a red wire to the engine compartment fusebox (C574-1) and passes through fusible links 1, 3, 4 and 6. Fusible links 6 and 1 are connected in series.

With the ignition switch in position II, a feed from the engine compartment fusebox (C571-2) is connected to the ignition switch (C028-3) by a brown and red wire. The feed from the ignition switch (C028-5) is connected to the passenger compartment fusebox (C588-3) by a green wire and passes through fuse 8. A feed from fuse 8 is connected to the CCU (C593-H).

A feed from fusible link 4 in the engine compartment fusebox (C571-1) is connected to the passenger compartment fusebox (C587-1) by a brown and white wire. The feed is connected to the HRW relay coil and switch contacts. This connection is permanently live.

The engine oil pressure switch (C187-1) is connected to the CCU (C592-C) via the passenger compartment fusebox by a white and brown wire. With the engine running, the oil pressure switch contacts close and complete an earth path from the CCU.

Pushing the HRW switch, momentarily completes an earth path from the CCU (C429-16) on a green and yellow wire to the HRW switch (C072-1). The earth path is completed from the switch (C072-4) on a black wire to earth header joint (C550-3). Completion of the switch earth path, signals the CCU to supply an earth path from the CCU (C593-C), through the passenger compartment fusebox (C587-2) to earth header joint (C018-3) on a black wire. This earth path also supplies a ground for the heated rear window relay coil, which energizes the relay and closes the contacts.
